| At my work's end term party all dressed up! |
I've been baking for as long as I can remember. Before I went to college my family used to tell me I should go to Pastry School instead. Now my co-workers tell me the same thing! I have never had a strong desire to go to Pastry school. I have always seen baking as a hobby and a way to show/give love to others. The planning, preparation, and research give me great joy and work as best stress reliever. Not a day goes by where I do not read a cookbook or check out a blog I fancy. I am constantly searching for new ideas, inspiration, and recipes.
During the day I teach sixth grade science for in Brooklyn, New York. I work at a great school with an extremely supportive staff. They also serve as my taste-testers! I enjoy thinking of things to make and bring in various birthdays and events! In the evening I am often at graduate school trying to finish up my Masters in Science Education. Once this is done I hope to dedicate more time to baking, blogging, and selling the things I make. One step at a time, however!
I live with two roommates who are very patient with me messing up the kitchen and storing all of my baking supplies. But don't you worry, they definitely benefit form my baking successes. Especially Stacey, she is my official "ugly-baked-good-eater!" I am extremely fortunate to have a large kitchen in New York City! Unfortunetly, I do not yet own a Kitchen-Aid Stand Mixer, so everything I make is with my little hand mixer. Sometimes I think my hand will fall off from mixing so much!
I know all the pictures are crummy, but I have very little photography skills. All pictures are taken with a Samsung SL 202 point-and-shoot. Eventually I hope to get a better camera and better skills!
I will try very hard to always link where my ideas and recipes come from. As I teach my students, taking something from another website without giving credit is stealing, and no one wants to be a thief! Most of my ideas are not my own. Please click on the links to get more/better information! With that being said, if you use anything from this site, please link and give credit where credit is due!
